Fall outdoor pillows
Autumn is the season the front porch does the most work. The chairs come back into use once the heat breaks, the light gets low and warm, and a pumpkin appears on the step. Fall pillows are how that porch gets dressed, and because these are made to stay outside they can sit through October rain without being carried in every evening.
Designs run through oak and maple leaves, acorns, wheat and pampas, in the rust, ochre, terracotta and deep cream that read as autumn from the pavement. All are 100% spun polyester, UV-resistant and water-resistant, printed on both sides, in an 18" × 18" square and a 20" × 14" lumbar.
Where they go
Outdoor fall throw pillows end up in three places, and each wants something different. On a porch swing or a bench, a pair of squares in one design. On patio chairs around a table, fall patio pillows in a single colour keep the group from looking busy. On a deep lounge chair, one lumbar in the small of the back does more than two squares would.
Buy early in the season
Autumn is short. A pillow bought in early September gets used for two full months; the same pillow bought in late October gets a few weeks. If you are dressing a porch for the season, the first half of September is the moment.
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before you order.
Can fall pillows stay outside through the rain?
Yes. The fabric is water-resistant and the colour is printed into the fibre, so autumn showers do not mark it. Let a soaked pillow air-dry rather than stacking it damp.
Will the colours fade in autumn sun?
Autumn sun is far gentler than July sun, and the polyester is UV-resistant regardless. Deep rust and terracotta shades hold particularly well.
How many pillows dress a porch?
Two on a bench or a pair of chairs is enough to change the whole look. Three across a wider seating area, in two designs sharing one colour, if you want it to look properly styled.
What is the difference between these and indoor fall pillows?
These are complete pillows rather than covers, and the fabric is made to take weather. That also means it has more texture than cotton or linen, so it feels closer to a garden cushion than a sofa cushion. Worth expecting if one is coming indoors.
