Brown Outdoor Pillows
Brown outdoor pillows
Brown is the neutral that behaves like a colour. Cream and grey disappear into a porch; chocolate, tan and warm coffee hold their own against timber decking, rattan and stone, and they do not show a season's worth of dust and pollen the way pale fabric does. That last point matters more outdoors than anywhere in the house.
All printed into 100% spun polyester on both sides. UV-resistant, water-resistant and mildew-resistant, with a sewn seam closure. Available as an 18" × 18" square and a 20" × 14" lumbar.
What brown sits next to
Almost everything, which is the reason to start here. Brown and cream is the quietest pairing and reads as linen. Brown with rust or terracotta leans warm and autumnal. Brown with sage or olive is the combination doing the most work in garden design at the moment, because it borrows from what is already growing around the seating. Brown with black is the sharpest of the four and suits a modern deck.
Frequently asked questions
Is brown only an autumn colour?
No. Warm brown with rust reads autumnal, but brown with cream or sage is a year-round neutral, and it is the standard palette for teak and rattan furniture in every season.
Does brown fabric fade in the sun?
The colour is printed into the fibre rather than onto the surface, and the polyester is UV-resistant. Deep browns hold particularly well, and they show less dust than pale shades between cleanings.
Brown or neutral, which should I choose?
Brown if the furniture is timber, teak or rattan and you want the cushions to belong to it. Cream and oatmeal if the furniture is dark metal or painted, and you want the cushions to lift it.
